How long does it take to install the lift retrofit kit?
The time varies with the tractor, the accessibility of the cable and the wiring route; the manufacturer does not declare a fixed installation time. The job consists of four steps: fixing the enclosure, connecting the outer end of the cable to the kit, running the two supply wires with a fuse and positioning the switch. Since the hydraulic circuit is not entered, there is no oil draining or fitting removal step.
The factors that determine the time are as follows:
- Accessibility of the cable end. If it is at an easily reached point, the connection takes minutes; if a panel has to come off, it takes longer.
- Wiring route. The distances to be run from battery to kit and from kit to switch, the use of grommets at pass-throughs and the clamping make up the bulk of the job.
- Mounting surface. Quick if there is a ready hole or profile; extra time is needed if holes have to be drilled. Allow 170 x 130 x 55 mm for the LFT20 and 155 x 175 x 70 mm for the LFT54.
- Condition of the mechanism. If the cable is stiff or rusted, mechanical servicing must come first.
On the LFT20 a bench test before installation is mandatory, so include that step in the time. The parts that must not be rushed are the chassis connection and the fuse placement; the fuse must be placed as close as possible to the battery terminal.
