Is a levelling system only used in RVs, where else is it useful?
Beyond towed caravans, motorhomes and tiny houses, the KTS200 is also used on machines that work in a fixed position: drilling and boring machines, mobile cranes and aerial work platforms, transport and facade hoists, agricultural machines such as combine harvesters, and container and cabin levelling. The common requirement is a 12V DC supply and that a load capacity of 2000 kg per jack is sufficient.
The need for levelling is not specific to RVs. Every machine working at a fixed point needs a horizontal position for a correct result or for safe operation. The areas of use stated by the manufacturer for the KTS200 are as follows:
- Towed caravans, motorhomes, tiny houses - for comfort and correct operation of the installations.
- Drilling and boring machines - keeping the hole vertical depends directly on levelling.
- Mobile cranes and aerial work platforms - the chassis must be horizontal for tip-over safety.
- Transport and facade hoists - the verticality of the mast depends on the levelling of the base.
- Combine harvesters and agricultural machines working in a fixed position.
- Container and cabin levelling.
Two technical limits determine whether an application is suitable: the system runs on a 12V DC supply and the load capacity of each jack is 2000 kg. A total load capacity of 8000 kg does not mean the capacity to lift the whole machine into the air; the jacks carry a portion of the weight. In whatever application, the jacks are not there to lift or brake the vehicle; on wheeled vehicles do not lift all wheels off the ground and use chocks, as jacks are no substitute for a parking brake and chocks.
