Can the KTS200 be used in tiny house and fixed cabin applications?
Yes, tiny house and container/cabin levelling are among the areas of use stated by the manufacturer. The system runs on a 12V DC supply, offers 2000 kg load capacity per leg and levels on two axes down to 0.025 degree resolution. In fixed installations the deciding factors are the bearing capacity of the ground and the rigidity of the mounting points.
In tiny house and cabin applications levelling is less a temporary job than a permanent installation; that changes the approach.
Ground: Under long-term load the leg tends to sink into the ground. Using a plate or a concrete pad that enlarges the contact surface lowers the pressure per unit area. This matters especially on soil, sand and hot asphalt.
Capacity: Each leg has a 2000 kg load capacity. Distribution must be calculated taking the structural weight and internal load of the tiny house into account; the total figure of 8000 kg should not be read as the weight at which the structure can be lifted into the air.
Power: The system is supplied with 12V DC. In fixed installations the supply is planned from a solar and battery bank or from a suitable 12V source.
Use: Measurement is done by the ASX103 two-axis inclination sensor and the GRV485 drives 4 legs. Once the position has been set, the reference can be fixed with Tare; after seasonal ground settlement it can be corrected again in automatic mode. The rule does not change on trailer-chassis tiny houses either: do not lift all the wheels off the ground and keep the chocks in place; the legs are no substitute for the parking brake or the chocks. Consult your structure manufacturer about structural mounting points.
