If I do not like the product, can I return it, and how long is the withdrawal period?
In distance sales the consumer may withdraw from the contract within fourteen days from the day the goods were received, without giving any reason and without paying a penalty clause. It is enough for the withdrawal notice to be in writing. After the notice the goods must be sent back within ten days, and the price must be refunded within fourteen days.
How the right of withdrawal works is governed by the Distance Contracts Regulation:
- Period: fourteen days in contracts for the delivery of goods, starting on the day the goods are received (art. 9).
- Notice: made in writing or by durable data storage medium; you do not have to state a reason (art. 11).
- Return shipment: you send the goods within ten days from the notice (art. 13).
- Refund of the price: the seller refunds everything collected, including delivery costs, within fourteen days after the notice reaches it (art. 12).
If your right of withdrawal was not properly notified to you, you are not bound by the fourteen-day period; in that case the period ends one year after the end of the withdrawal period.
