RF Pairing Protocol
Pairing is the process of introducing a transmitter's identity to the receiver and storing it permanently. Once it is done, the receiver acts only on commands coming from that transmitter. For the HCT402 set it is stated that pairing must be carried out within a distance of 50 m; the working range is given as 100 m.
Pairing usually runs through these steps: the receiver is put into learning mode with a particular key or power-up sequence, the defined combination is applied on the transmitter, and the receiver stores the identity and gives LED or audible feedback.
- Distance condition: staying close during pairing makes it harder for another nearby transmitter to be registered by mistake.
- Persistence: the record is written to non-volatile memory; a power cut does not break the pairing.
- Repeating it: the procedure is repeated if the remote control is replaced or a spare transmitter is to be added.
In AXI sets the implementation varies by product: in the SF series the transmitter is introduced to the receiver with a teach-in procedure, while for the HCT402 the pairing range is defined as within 50 m. The symptom of a lost pairing is typical: the remote control LED lights, the battery is full, but the receiver responds on no channel at all.
