Pairing
Registering a transmitter's identity code into the receiver's memory so that the two work together. What prevents sets on the same site from triggering each other is not a different frequency but the individual identity code of each set. On AXI products this is done with the teach-in procedure in the user manual.
When pairing is carried out, the receiver writes that transmitter's identity code into its memory. From then on, every incoming frame is first checked for the identity code; if the code is not recognised the frame is not processed at all. Two sets sharing the same frequency therefore do not accept each other's commands.
To understand this correctly, distinguish three points:
- Frequency ≠ identity: the mechanism that prevents conflict is the identity code. Devices in the same band do not disturb each other.
- Channel occupancy is a separate matter: if many devices transmit simultaneously in the same band, range and response time may drop. This is not a conflict but spectrum density, and duty cycle limits exist for exactly this reason.
- Standard expectation: IEC 62745 explicitly addresses the prevention of unauthorised use and unintended operation in wireless control systems; unique identification is the answer to that expectation.
Do not invent button combinations for the pairing steps; the procedure varies from set to set and is defined in the user manual. After the operation, always test each channel one by one with no load.
