Why is the LFT20 sold outside warranty coverage?

The AXI LFT20 is a product that the manufacturer explicitly sells outside warranty coverage. The unit has no board, processor or sensor; there is no current or position protection, so a wrong connection or a strained mechanism can cause damage directly. Users who want a warranty should look at the LFT54 or ELF-812 models, which carry a 36-month warranty.

The LFT20 is deliberately a plain product: 12V DC supply, 10 A average current, 10 kg cable pulling force, 60 mm pull travel, IP66 galvanised metal body, 400 g weight and a single illuminated switch with connector. Inside there is no board, processor or sensor.

The consequences of this:

For that reason a bench test before installation is mandatory: touch the red wire to the battery positive and the black wire to the battery negative terminal and visually verify the motor's movement in both directions and the switch. The connection must be fused (for a 10 A load the calculation gives 12.5 A, 15 A in practice) and the mechanism must be freed up beforehand.

If protection and warranty are your priority: the LFT54 offers 36 months with an embedded control board protected by current and position sensors, and the ELF-812 offers 36 months of warranty with an electronic control module and automatic calibration.
