Where should the ASX103 inclination sensor be mounted in the RV?
The ASX103 levelling brain houses the two-axis inclination sensor inside it; that is why the unit itself is mounted on a surface that is fixed and vibration-free relative to the RV chassis, with its axes aligned to the vehicle axes. After installation, reference zeroing is performed with the Tare function to remove the mounting deviation.
The measurement accuracy of the ASX103 depends on its mounting representing the real axes of the RV. Follow these rules for the placement:
- Rigid surface: Choose the chassis or a non-flexing surface attached directly to the chassis. Furniture panels, cupboard bases or foam-backed surfaces corrupt the measurement.
- Axis alignment: The axes of the unit must be aligned with the front-rear and left-right axes of the RV; mounting it diagonally causes the two axes to mix.
- Permanent fixing: A sensor that moves loses its reference. Bolt it down, do not fix it temporarily with adhesive tape.
- Environment: Keep it away from heat sources, areas of strong vibration and points that take knocks, such as doors.
- Access: Choose a place that is reachable for cabling and for service when needed.
Once the mounting is complete, position the RV on ground that is as level as possible and perform Tare (reference zeroing). This step zeroes out the fixed deviation caused by the mounting angle of the unit on the software side and lets the system work with 0.025 degree accuracy. If you change the placement, repeat the Tare procedure.
