Where do the LFT54's four connections go?
The LFT54 has two supply wires, one control signal wire and one cable entry. The positive supply is connected to the 12V line through a fuse, the negative supply to a clean bare metal chassis point. The control signal wire runs to the electronic switch in the cab or on the console. The cable entry takes the end of the existing Lift-O-Matik cable that is outside the tractor; the tractor side is not disturbed.
Let us take the connections in order:
- Positive (+) supply: Connected to the 12V line. Place the fuse as close as possible to the source, that is, the battery terminal; that way the whole length of wire is protected.
- Negative (-) supply: Connected with a serrated washer to a metal chassis point cleaned of paint and rust. A poor earth is the most common cause of the motor turning slowly.
- Control signal wire: Runs to the electronic switch and carries the raise/lower command. Since it carries no power it can be of thin cross section, but route it away from the ignition wiring and the alternator line.
- Cable entry: This is the mechanical connection point. A slight slack must remain in the cable, and the mechanism must be triggered when the kit pulls 50 mm.
Do all the wiring with the battery negative terminal disconnected and clamp the wires to keep them away from moving parts.
