What does the ELF-812's automatic calibration do, and when is it repeated?
The ELF-812's automatic system calibration lets the system learn the stroke limits of the linear rack motor and the range of movement of the hydraulic control lever. This is how the height selected in position mode is maintained repeatably. The calibration is run after the first installation; it must be repeated whenever a mechanical change is made to the motor or lever connection.
Without calibration the system does not know which position of the lever is full raise and which is full lower. Once the learning is complete, joystick and fender switch commands are interpreted within this range.
Repeat the calibration in the following cases:
- When the mounting point of the linear motor or the point where the rack end connects to the lever changes.
- When mechanical maintenance or adjustment has been carried out on the hydraulic control lever.
- When the control module has been removed and refitted.
- When you notice a consistent offset between the position the links go to on command and the expected position.
During calibration nobody must be under or behind the linkage, and if no implement is attached, an area must be left where the links can move freely. When the procedure is complete, run a few raise-lower cycles in position mode and verify visually that it returns to the same position.
