What happens if the ELF-812 calibration is lost, and how is it reset?
The AXI ELF-812 control module performs automatic system calibration and learns the movement limits of the lever this way. If the calibration is lost, the links may not stop at the expected position or the range of movement may become shorter. In that case the calibration is run again; if the mechanical connection has come loose, the linear motor connection must be corrected first.
Calibration is the step in which the control module learns the relationship between the position of the linear rack motor and the movement of the linkage. It is run once after installation.
Situations that require recalibration:
- If the linear motor's connection on the hydraulic lever has come loose or been moved.
- If the control module has been removed and refitted.
- If maintenance, repair or adjustment has been carried out on the mechanism.
- If the links do not stop at the commanded position, or the range of movement stays shorter than expected.
Always check the mechanical side before calibration. A calibration done with a loose connection teaches the wrong limits and the problem recurs before long. Also, since the links will move during calibration, nobody must be under or around the linkage.
