What does the mirror heating feature do and when is it used?
Mirror heating clears mist and thin icing by heating the glass surface; it quickly restores the exterior mirror view on winter mornings, in rainy weather and in humid coastal climates. On the CM1405 the heating module is included in the kit and is managed from an in-vehicle button; the supply is the 12V DC vehicle line.
The exterior mirror is one of the surfaces of the vehicle body that cools down fastest and holds the most moisture. Since the interior heating system does not reach the mirror glass, mist and frost stay there for a long time; drivers usually solve this by wiping it by hand, which is both temporary and not possible while driving.
Situations where it is used:
- On winter mornings, when a thin layer of frost or hoarfrost forms on the mirror.
- In rainy and highly humid weather, when the mirror keeps misting up.
- In coastal and humid climate regions, for most of the day.
- On journeys where the difference between inside and outside temperature is large and the vehicle is used heated.
On the CM1405 heating is one of the two basic functions that come together with automatic folding, and it is switched on from the existing in-vehicle switches.
The heater power and the thermostat or timer behaviour are not published in the product data; for this reason we do not commit to a heating time or a temperature value. For details you can get in touch.
