What does the system do when the signal is lost, and what does the 250 ms timeout guarantee?
On the HCT400 and HCT402, if the remote signal is lost the servo motor takes the lever to the safe center position within 250 milliseconds and oil flow to that lever stops. This threshold is well below the 1.5 second upper limit generally expected of wireless machine remote controls, and it prevents movement from continuing on signal loss.
The most critical scenario in wireless remote control is how the absence of a command, rather than the command itself, is interpreted. A system that kept holding the last command when the signal was lost would keep moving when the operator went out of range.
The behavior here is unambiguous: if no connection arrives for 250 ms the system treats the signal as lost, the motor takes the lever to the safe center position and oil flow stops.
Typical situations that trigger the timeout:
- Depletion of the remote battery.
- The operator going out of range, or a large metal mass coming in between.
- Sustained packet loss due to heavy interference.
- The remote being switched off.
On wireless machine remote controls, such a timeout is expected to be adjustable with a default not exceeding 1.5 seconds; fixed values of 5 seconds and above are not accepted. 250 ms is markedly below that expectation.
An important limit: stopping oil flow stops the movement. Holding a suspended load depends on the hydraulic circuit's own load holding arrangement, and the kit does not intervene in that arrangement.
