The servo moves but the throttle butterfly does not follow — is the cable slipping?
In this picture the fault is almost always in the cable run: slipping at the clamp, an outer sheath not fixed at both ends, an excessively curved route, or a seized throttle lever joint. The actuator transfers its movement to the butterfly only if the sheath is fixed and the inner wire can slide freely. After the correction, the upper limit has to be taught again on the GS740-3P.
Check in order:
- Clamp: is the clamp that connects the cable end to the throttle lever tight? A clamp that slips with vibration first gives partial and then total loss of movement.
- Sheath fixing: the outer sheath must be fixed at both of its ends. If the sheath is free, the actuator movement pushes the sheath and the wire stays where it is.
- Route: sharp bends and diagonal pulls magnify friction and hysteresis. Keep the route short and gently curved, use the cable guides and cable ties supplied with the kit.
- Throttle lever: does the lever move freely by hand? If there is rust, soot or bending, sort out the mechanical side first.
- Pre-tension: the cable must be taut at idle; a slack cable does nothing for the first turns.
On the GS740-3P, in cases of excessive strain the current limit and mechanical stall protection can trip; the factory setting is approximately 7A and it can be configured between 3.5A-10A. Do not raise the limit before resolving the strain mechanically.
