Can the same kit be used on vehicles with 12V and 24V batteries?

No, the two models are different. The HCT400 is for 12V DC systems and delivers full performance between 10-18V; it does not connect directly to a 24V vehicle. The HCT402 is designed to connect directly to both 12V and 24V systems, and its voltage stability has been tested at 7V, 12V, 27V, and 31V.

Vehicle selection often directly determines model selection.

Do not try to connect an HCT400 to a 24V vehicle through a converter. The HCT400 also has no reverse polarity protection, so a supply error turns into permanent damage. On the HCT402 side, voltage stability has been verified at 7V, 12V, 27V, and 31V; this means tolerance against voltage swings during the day on an alternator-equipped vehicle. Model selection also means a difference in force: the HCT400 applies 15 kgf, the HCT402 approximately 20 kgf.
