How should the cables between the jacks be routed?
The cables are run from the GRV485 control unit to each jack by the shortest and most protected path; they are secured along the chassis rail and kept away from moving parts, hot areas such as the exhaust line, and sharp edges. No cable is left in the corridor where the jack extends and retracts; a protective bushing is used at every pass-through point.
Cable routing is the most overlooked detail that determines the long-term reliability of the system. All power and data cables and the fixing accessories come in the kit; the job is to place them correctly.
- Short and direct: voltage drop rises on lengthened runs and the jack slows down. Position the GRV485 at a balanced distance from the 4 jacks.
- Fixing along the chassis: Secure the cable to the inner face of the chassis rail with clamps at regular intervals. A freely hanging cable is worn down by vibration on the road.
- Sharp edges and hole pass-throughs: Use a rubber bushing or protective spiral wrap at every sheet metal pass-through; insulation wear is the most common cause of short circuits.
- Heat and movement: Stay away from the exhaust line, brake line, suspension and steering components.
- Jack corridor: The cable must not be trapped in the path where the jack extends and retracts; check separately with the jack fully extended and fully retracted.
- Connections: Terminals must be tight and protected against corrosion; a loose terminal creates heat.
After installation, run each jack one by one in manual mode to verify that the cable is not under tension in any position.
