The remote control sometimes responds and sometimes does not, what can cause this?

Intermittent response is almost always caused by the signal level being marginal. The most common reasons are: the antenna left inside the panel, inverter or welding machine interference, working at the edge of the range, a weakened battery or cells, and a loose antenna connector. If dropouts happen at specific spots, the reason is antenna placement.

A link that does not fully break but keeps stumbling is a sign of a marginal signal. Search in this order:

  1. Does it drop out at a specific spot? If so, the problem is in the coverage area: the antenna may have been left inside the panel — a metal enclosure behaves like a Faraday cage. Move the antenna outside the panel, vertical and a few centimetres away from large metal surfaces. Do not shorten or lengthen the antenna cable; the impedance and length match are lost.
  2. Does it drop out while a specific machine runs? An inverter or welding machine is a strong suspect. Leave at least ≈20 cm between power and signal cables, earth the motor cable shield correctly, fit a ferrite ring and take the receiver supply from a separate branch.
  3. Does it change with distance? The declared ranges (SF ~100 m, ST ~150 m) are open field values; keep the actual working radius below that.
  4. Cells/battery: a weakened source lowers signal strength and stability. Test with fresh cells or a fully charged remote control.
  5. Mechanical: a loose antenna connector, a crushed cable, a gland that has taken in moisture.
  6. Buttons: a worn button membrane also produces intermittent commands; check the button response with the machine de-energised.

After any change, repeat the field test at all working points.
