What should I do for the kit at periodic maintenance?
The kit itself requires no periodic oil or parts changes. At the start and end of the season, check the tightness of the cable connection, wear on the cable, the cleanliness of the connectors, the chassis connection, wire chafing points and the fuse holder. Lubricating the joints of the mechanism is the most effective maintenance for keeping the motor working without strain.
Twice a year, at the start and end of the season, work through this list:
- Cable: Check that it is securely fastened in the kit's socket. If any strands have started to break, the sheath is crushed or there is rust, replace the cable. The cable does not come with the kit; the tractor's existing cable is used.
- Mechanism: Lubricate the joints and pivot points. A stiffening mechanism runs the motor at its limit; the LFT20 pulls a maximum of 10 kg and the LFT54 a maximum of 15 kg.
- Connectors: Separate them, look for damp and oxidation inside, and refit them dry.
- Chassis: Verify that it is connected to clean bare metal and has not worked loose.
- Wires: Look for chafing marks on sheet edges, the exhaust and moving parts; use rubber grommets at pass-throughs.
- Fuse: Check the holder for oxidation.
- Body: Touch up deep scratches with zinc-based paint and do not leave it where water collects.
The ELF-812 and LFT54 are covered by a 36-month warranty; the LFT20 is sold outside warranty coverage, which makes regular checks even more important.
