Which test is mandatory before installing the LFT20?
A bench test before installation is mandatory for the LFT20. The red wire is touched directly to the battery positive terminal and the black wire to the negative; it is visually verified that the motor moves forwards and backwards and that the illuminated switch with connector works. The kit runs on 12V DC and draws 10A on average. Do not install it on the tractor until this test is passed, because the LFT20 is sold outside warranty coverage.
The purpose of the test is to avoid running into a problem after the unit has been fixed to the tractor and the wiring pulled. Procedure:
- Place the kit on a flat surface with nobody in front of the parts that will move.
- Touch the red wire to the battery positive terminal and the black wire to the negative. Do not mix up the polarity.
- Plug in the illuminated switch with connector; check that the lamp lights up.
- Operate the switch in the forward direction and watch the motor pull the cable. Then operate it in the reverse direction and verify the release movement.
- Confirm that the travel is around 60 mm and that the motor runs without binding in both directions.
If the result is negative, that is, if the motor does not turn, turns in only one direction or the switch does not light, do not proceed with installation and contact the seller. Since the LFT20 has no board, processor or sensor, there is no protection circuit; a wrong supply or a jammed mechanism goes straight through to the motor.
