The lever vibrates or moves erratically — what are the possible causes?
The most common causes of vibration and erratic movement are a loose mounting clamp, lost calibration, weak supply voltage and air trapped in the hydraulic circuit. On the HCT402, Dynamic Mode responds sharply and can feel like vibration during precision work; switching to Soft Mode by connecting the blue wire to negative makes a clear difference in most cases.
Work through the checks in order to narrow the problem down.
- Mechanical: check the mounting clamp and the motor fixing point. A loose clamp or a flexing sheet metal surface produces oscillation on every motor movement. Check the alignment of the motor shaft with the lever axis.
- Calibration: if the clamp has slipped, the learned working range no longer matches the actual stroke. Repeat the calibration.
- Mode: on the HCT402, Dynamic Mode is designed for sharp response. For precise positioning, switch to Soft Mode by connecting the blue wire to negative.
- Supply: measure the voltage while the motor is running. The HCT400 delivers full performance between 10-18V. Thin or long cable drops voltage at the device end even though it looks healthy at the battery terminal. Connect the negative return to clean metal.
- Hydraulics: air in the circuit, low oil level, a clogged filter and cold viscous oil produce vibration and jerking. These causes are not related to the kit; the kit does not intervene in the hydraulic circuit.
If the control cuts out intermittently at the edge of range, the problem is not vibration but signal: move closer and try again.
