If the KTS200 stops before completing levelling, what could be the reason?
Automatic levelling stopping halfway is mostly not a fault but protective behaviour. The most common causes are: the motors slowing down because of a weak house battery and hitting the timeout control, one of the jacks meeting a mechanical obstruction and triggering the current protection, the ground being too soft, or the ground slope being more than the system can take up with the jack stroke.
Order of checks:
- Battery: Charge it fully and try again. In lead-acid/AGM, deep discharges permanently reduce capacity; an old battery collapses under load even when fully charged.
- Ground: If the jacks sink in, the system sees a new tilt at every correction and cannot lock onto the target. Put a load-spreading plate under the jack.
- Coarse slope: If the ground slope is too great, the jacks cannot cover enough distance. Move the vehicle to a flatter spot or reduce the coarse slope beforehand with a ramp/blocks.
- Mechanical: Check whether there is a stone, mud, ice or bending in the path of one of the jacks.
- Sensor position: If the ASX103 has loosened or moved, the measurement becomes inconsistent; check the fixing and if necessary do a reference zeroing with Tare.
The system stopping is thanks to the current protection and timeout control on the GRV485; these work at hardware level and protect the mechanism from being strained. So read the stop as a warning, do not try to get past it by restarting over and over.
