The lever goes backward when I push forward: how is direction inversion calibration applied?
Depending on which side you attached the motor to the lever, the joystick direction and the lever direction may end up reversed. The second step of the HCT402's three-stage calibration solves exactly this: with direction inversion, the joystick axis is flipped in software, so you do not have to remove the motor and refit it the other way around.
This is not a fault but a natural result of the mounting orientation. When the motor is attached to the right or left side of the lever, the same joystick movement produces motion in the opposite direction.
Order of the solution:
- First clear the area around the hydraulic equipment and, if possible, test with no load.
- On the HCT402, run the direction inversion step of the calibration; the joystick axis is flipped in software.
- After inversion, verify by moving the lever end to end in both directions.
- If more than one lever is fitted on the same vehicle, check the direction separately for each lever; operator reflexes must be built correctly from day one.
Never leave direction inversion as a matter of permanent habit. An operator working on the basis of "I know it is reversed" creates the risk of motion in the wrong direction in an emergency. Also, do not try to change direction by reversing the motor's supply cables: the HCT400 has no reverse polarity protection and reverse connection damages the motor. The HCT402 has reverse polarity protection, but direction changes must still be made through calibration.
