How is the working speed stored in memory on the GS740?
On the GS740 the working speed is stored by holding the IP67 metal button for 3 seconds. First the engine is brought to the desired working speed with the precision potentiometer, then the button is pressed for 3 seconds and that speed is taken into memory. After storing, a short press of the button switches instantly between idle and the stored working speed.
The sequence is this:
- Start the engine and warm it up.
- Come steplessly to the working speed you want with the precision potentiometer. The speed should be chosen as the lowest level that delivers the flow/power the job requires.
- Hold the IP67 metal button for 3 seconds. This speed is taken into memory.
- When you press the button briefly, the engine switches instantly between idle and this stored speed.
The practical benefit: during work, dropping to idle for a break and returning to the same working speed comes down to a single touch; there is no need to hunt for the potentiometer setting by eye. This is an advantage both for repeatability and for not running at unnecessarily high speed.
Watch two points. First, the product data defines a single working speed; it is not stated that there is more than one speed slot. Second, this is not speed regulation: what is stored is the position of the throttle lever. When the load changes, the engine speed drops somewhat and the system does not compensate for it by itself; the engine's mechanical governor continues to work in place.
