How should I mount the receiver in the panel?
Mount the in-panel receiver as far as possible from the inverter, contactors and motor cables, preferably on the signal side of the panel. Leave at least about 20 cm between power and control cables, cross them at right angles where crossings are unavoidable, and bring the antenna outside the panel in a vertical position. If the antenna stays inside the metal panel the range drops severely.
Three things are decisive in an in-panel installation: the choice of location, cable separation and the antenna exit.
- Choice of location: keep the receiver away from the inverter, the braking resistor and the contactor group. Divide the panel in your mind into a power side and a signal side, and let the receiver sit on the signal side.
- Cable separation: leave at least about 20 cm between power cables and control cables running in parallel. Make unavoidable crossings at 90 degrees. Carry control signals with twisted pair cable.
- Screening and earthing: the motor cable should be screened; for high-frequency noise the screen is earthed at both ends.
- Antenna: always place the antenna outside the panel, in a vertical position and a few centimetres away from large metal surfaces. Do not shorten or extend the antenna cable.
- Supply: protect the receiver supply with a fuse of suitable rating and label the terminals.
Do the post-installation test not with no load but under real working conditions: give commands from the furthest point of the range while the inverter and, if present, the welding machine are running.
