How do I extend the life of the Li-Po battery?
Typical cycle life on Li-Po cells is 300-500 charge cycles. To extend life, charge in the 0-45 degree range, do not leave the device fully discharged, store it at 40-60% charge if you will not use it for a long time, and keep storage between -20 and +25 degrees. The operating temperature is typically 0-40 degrees.
Li-Po life is determined mainly by three things: temperature, state of charge and cycle count.
- Cycle life: typically 300-500 full charge cycles. Partial charges do not count as full cycles; short daily charges do not use up life quickly.
- Temperature: charge in the 0-45 °C range. Charging below freezing leaves permanent damage in the cell. The operating range is typically 0-40 °C and storage -20…+25 °C.
- Charging regime: standard charge 0.5 C, fast charge 1.0 C. The cell is charged at constant current up to 4.2 V, then at a constant 4.2 V until the current falls to 0.05 C. Use the device's own charger.
- Deep discharge: leaving a fully discharged cell sitting for a long time does the most severe damage. Make putting it on charge at the end of the shift a routine.
- Storage: if it will not be used for weeks, leave it at 40-60% charge; leaving it fully charged or fully empty shortens life.
The ST100 and ST200 remote controls are charged through the AXI-Link 3-pin industrial connector. Keep the connector clean and dry; do not apply charging to a wet connector.
