If the jacks will not retract, how do you continue safely on the road?
If the Retract Jacks command produces no result, absolutely do not set off with a half-retracted jack. First stop the system with Emergency Stop, check the power and battery condition, try retracting the jacks one by one in Manual mode, and look for a mechanical obstruction. If none of these works, contact AXI technical support without moving the vehicle; remote parameter and software intervention is possible.
Order of checks:
- Stop with Emergency Stop and assess the situation.
- Battery: Retraction needs energy too. If the service battery is weak, the motor cannot take the load. Charge it and try again.
- Manual mode: Instead of all jacks, try retracting them one by one. This way you isolate which jack is the problem.
- Mechanical obstruction: Look for mud, ice, stones, corrosion or bending from an impact. The pad under the jack may be jammed.
- Cable/connector: The line running to that jack is checked for a break, oxidation or a loose socket.
The firm rule for deciding to set off: do not move without visually confirming that all four jacks are in the fully retracted position. When a half-retracted jack hits a bump or a kerb, both the jack and the chassis attachment are seriously damaged and road safety is put at risk.
Also, with the jacks out the vehicle has neither a parking brake nor a chock function; the jacks cannot be used for these purposes and the chocks must stay in place. Until the problem is solved, leave the vehicle in a safe position where it is and contact technical support under the 2 year warranty.
