The duration varies with the slope of the ground and the distance the legs have to travel to reach it. On even campsite ground the operation is short, while on markedly sloping or soft ground it takes longer and the fine levelling stage makes more micro corrections.
The factors that determine the duration:
- Ground slope: the greater the slope, the greater the distance the legs must travel and the correction to be made.
- Ground contact stage: the legs come down one by one in turn. If the gap to the ground is large, this first stage takes up a significant part of the total time.
- Ground hardness: on soft ground the leg sinks in as it takes load and the system repeats the correction; this lengthens the time.
- Battery condition: a weak battery slows the motors, lengthens the time, and if the current protection/timeout is triggered the operation may be cut short.
Practical suggestions for shortening the time: choose as level an area as possible when parking in the first place, use ramps/blocks beforehand to reduce the coarse slope if needed, put a load-spreading plate under the leg on soft ground, and start levelling with a fully charged battery.
Because Fine mode includes the stage of going down to 0,025° with micro corrections, it naturally asks for a little more time; in return the result is more stable. Since no firm guarantee of duration is given, it is better to focus on improving the conditions above than to expect a fixed figure in seconds.
