How does a custom production request start and how does the prototype process work?
The process starts with a requirements analysis: the application, operating voltage, current, ambient conditions, control method and safety requirements are put in writing. Then come the concept design, prototype production, field test and revision steps. Lead time and cost vary by project and become clear during the requirements analysis.
The typical progression consists of these steps:
- Requirements analysis: what the application has to do; supply voltage, current drawn, operating environment (dust, humidity, vibration, temperature), control interface (button, joystick, wireless), safety and stopping requirements are determined.
- Concept design: it is decided whether adapting an existing AXI platform or a new design is required; block diagrams and interface definitions are produced.
- Prototype: a sample that validates the function is produced.
- Field test: the prototype is tried in the real application; the measured behaviour is compared with the expectation.
- Revision: the findings from the test are worked into the design; if necessary a second round of samples is produced.
What saves the most time in this process is the clarity of the information shared in the first step; the schematic, photographs and measured values of your existing system shorten the process noticeably.
We do not give figures in advance for delivery time, minimum quantity and development cost; these become clear after the scope is defined. You can send us your request through our contact page.
