Can a vehicle with manual mirrors be converted to power-folding mirrors?
Yes. The CM1405 is a retrofit kit based on removing the manual mirror body and fitting the new one in its place; it comes with the folding mechanism, the heating module, a vehicle-compatible wiring harness, mounting hardware and a wiring diagram. Whether the conversion is possible depends on the mirror mount and the vehicle's electrical architecture, so it has to be confirmed vehicle by vehicle.
The conversion requires compatibility on two sides:
- Mechanical fit: the new mirror body has to seat in the vehicle's existing mirror mount. The kit is supplied with a mechanical structure and connector compatible with mirror mounts, but every vehicle has a different body design.
- Electrical fit: the folding and heating lines have to be connectable to a 12V DC supply and to the ignition and door-lock trigger points.
In systems of this type a remote-controlled central locking is typically a precondition; without a lock signal there is no source to trigger the folding. It is recommended that the installation be done by a service shop experienced with vehicle electrics.
The kit's box contains the wiring diagram and the user manual; the wiring is done according to that diagram.
