Can I increase the number of channels later?

The channel count is fixed by the number of relay outputs on the receiver and by the button layout of the remote control; it cannot be expanded by software or by a setting. If the need grows, you move to a set with more channels. On the AXI side, the ST100 comes in 2 and 4 channels, the ST200 in 2, 4 and 6 channel options; the SF100 and SF200 are 2 channels.

The number of relays on a receiver is a hardware limit. That is why the channel requirement has to be determined before the project is built, leaving room for growth.

When the need grows later, there are three routes:

  1. Moving to a set with more channels. The cleanest solution. The ST200 family offers 2, 4 and 6 channel options; the ST100 is 2 and 4 channels.
  2. Adding a second set. A separate receiver and remote control can work on the same site with a separate ID code. The disadvantage is that the operator has to carry two devices.
  3. Building logic on the panel side. You can get more movements by multiplexing the existing channels with auxiliary relays, timer relays or a small PLC — for example using one channel as a mode selector and another as a direction command. This method gains channels but increases the risk of operating errors and wrong modes; it is not preferred for safety-related movements.

In practice the soundest approach is to buy one step more channels than today's need; leaving a spare channel for a future boom, slew or second platform axis is far cheaper than swapping the set later.
