Working Speed Memory
This is the storing of the working speed the operator uses most often. On the GS740 kit this is done by holding the IP67 metal button supplied with the set for 3 seconds; the current working speed is taken into memory. Instead of hunting for the same point with the potentiometer every time, you return to the stored speed with a single action.
From the user's point of view the operation has two steps. First you find the working speed you want with the potentiometer; this is the speed at which the pump delivers the desired flow or the machine works comfortably. Then you hold the button for 3 seconds and that point is stored.
The gain is repeatability. With a hand-set throttle lever the operator picks a slightly different speed every shift; that means fluctuation in fuel consumption and in work quality. A stored speed removes this variability.
Two limits must be known. First, the product documentation does not state how many separate speeds can be stored; a single working speed is described. Second, what is stored is not the engine's measured speed but the position of the throttle lever. When the load changes, the engine's actual speed drops at the same position. Holding speed constant under load only comes into play with the optional active feedback module that reads speed.
This function belongs to the GS740; it is not present on the GS740-3P, which has no button.
