Wind Mode
Wind mode is an operating mode focused on maintaining the balance of the leg loads in conditions where external forces are constantly moving the vehicle. When wind or movement inside the vehicle makes the slope reading fluctuate, the system is not wanted to answer every fluctuation with a correction. It is one of the KTS200's four operating modes.
On a stationary RV the inclination sensor does not measure gravity alone; the force a side wind applies to the body creates a real change of angle via the suspension, and the sensor reads it correctly. The problem is not in the measurement but in the response: driving the legs at every gust both consumes energy and causes the load to keep changing hands between the legs.
- The aim is for temporary deviations not to be corrected and for all four legs to keep carrying load without losing contact.
- If the load on one leg comes off entirely, then when the force changes direction the vehicle drops hard onto that leg; twisting of the body and doors sticking are the signs of this.
When it is used: on open, windy campsites, by the sea, in mountain passes and in crowded use where there is frequent movement inside the vehicle. Wind mode does not take the place of chocks; the wheel chocks must stay fitted in every circumstance. In severe wind, retracting the awning and moving the load to the lower levels of the vehicle are basic precautions that no electronic mode can replace.
