Cases Outside Warranty Scope (Warranty Exclusions)
Faults arising from use contrary to the user manual, unauthorised intervention and external effects being treated as outside the scope of free repair. The warranty covers defects originating in production and materials; damage arising from user error is not handled within this scope.
The boundary of the warranty is drawn according to the source of the defect. A defect originating in production or materials is within the warranty; damage caused by an external effect is not. In industrial control products it is often possible to make this distinction by looking at the traces on the board.
- Operating outside the supply range stated in the manual.
- Reverse polarity, welding work on the vehicle, overvoltage and lightning effects.
- Contact with water, moisture and chemicals, and mounting that does not match the protection class.
- Opening the device, modifications on the board and unauthorised repair attempts.
- Using the product above the defined load or outside its purpose.
For some products, because protection features are not present, faults arising from use are explicitly defined as the user's responsibility; this is stated in the product description. Complying with installation details such as fuse rating, cable cross-section and earthing is the practical way to minimise the risk of falling outside the scope.
