TTR / NYAF Cable (Flexible PVC Cable)
TTR and NYAF are flexible PVC-insulated cable types with stranded copper conductors. NYAF is single-core and is used for connections and jumpering inside panels, while TTR, with its multi-core round construction, is used for mobile supplies running to a machine. Both come in cross-section steps starting from 0.75 mm².
What the two cables have in common is that the conductor is stranded and flexible; where they differ is construction.
- NYAF: single core, thin PVC jacket. It is used inside panels for connections between terminal blocks, switches and fuses. It is not run on its own outdoors; it requires a duct or a pipe.
- TTR: several cores inside a common round jacket. It is preferred on lines running onto machines, to socketed supplies and to mobile consumers; the outer jacket provides mechanical protection.
Watch two points in the selection. First, PVC insulation has a temperature limit; in areas such as an engine bay or near an exhaust, heat-resistant cable or an additional thermal sleeve is needed. Second, the end of a flexible cable is always terminated with a ferrule or lug. In the panel connections of AXI drivers and remote controls, jumpering with NYAF, and TTR on the lines going from the device to the motor or valve, are common and correct choices. On a route that goes outdoors, additionally run the TTR inside spiral conduit.
