Transport Position
The position, close to the upper limit of the linkage, in which the implement is held while being carried on the road. On dial systems it corresponds to the detent region of the dial. In this position the implement is high enough off the ground but the linkage has not entered the zone that holds the relief valve permanently open.
The transport position has two limits. If you stay below it, the implement strikes obstacles and bumps in the road; if you go above it, the hydraulics start delivering continuously for no reason. The correct position is the point at which the implement has reached a safe height but the system is not up against the pressure limit.
- Lock the side stabilisers when travelling on the road; a high position amplifies the swing.
- On an implement with a high centre of gravity, do not raise the transport position higher than necessary.
- On long road transports, do not entrust the implement to the hydraulics; use a mechanical lock or a support.
The LFT20 and LFT54 kits fitted to a dial quick-lift mechanism work in exactly this range. The stroke over which the cable is pulled is limited to 60 mm on the LFT20 and 50 mm on the LFT54; this limit is enough to bring the lever to the transport position and leave it there, and it does not allow the lever to be forced to the end. That is the reason the limit is meaningful.
