Telemetry / Feedback
Telemetry is the sending back of status information from the receiver side to the remote control: link quality, fault flags, output state or supply voltage. It gives the operator visibility without looking at the machine and puts measurement in place of guesswork in fault finding. It is possible only with bidirectional protocols.
The information seen on the remote control's display or LED indicator is typically the following:
- Link quality: received signal level or failed packet ratio; used directly when choosing antenna position.
- Fault state: receiver-side flags such as overcurrent, undervoltage supply or sensor fault.
- Energy: remote control battery level and machine-side supply voltage.
The practical value of feedback becomes clear during commissioning. You determine the range limit not by guessing but by monitoring the signal level; you can measure whether raising the antenna a few metres really gains anything. On the AXI side, the HCT402 does not allow motion control at a critical battery level and gives an LED and audible warning; this is an example of feedback behaviour that reports status to the user. Because the cost of telemetry is extra transmission time, status packets are sent less frequently than command packets.
