Start Inhibit
Logic that blocks a command from being executed if a motion button is already held down at the moment the device is switched on. Motion begins only after the button is released and pressed again. It prevents a transmitter shoved in a pocket or wedged somewhere from starting the machine at power-up.
Start inhibit is one of the quietest but most valuable protections in a wireless remote control. At switch-on the transmitter reads the button states; those found pressed are treated as invalid and that channel is held locked until it is released.
- The lock is per channel: the other channels that are not pressed work normally.
- The same logic is applied on the receiver side as well; the moment supply arrives, no earlier command is remembered.
- From the operator's point of view the symptom is this: you switched the device on, you are holding the button, but there is no motion. This is not a fault, it is what the design requires.
Without the lock, an operator whose belt-hung transmitter was leaning against a button could make the crane move the instant the device was switched on. Apply the same principle on the panel side: when the mushroom button is reset or power returns, the contactors must not pull in by themselves, a new command must be awaited. Test this behaviour without load during commissioning and record it.
