Spirit Level Indicator
The spirit level indicator is the interface element that visualises the measured two-axis tilt with a bubble symbol. The user reads at a glance which way and how much the tilt is, while the numerical degree gives the firm basis for the decision. Both presentations are offered together in the KTS200 interface.
In a classic bubble spirit level, the bubble runs towards the high side. Numerical systems imitate this behaviour: the two-axis angle is drawn as a dot moving inside a circular target. The further the dot is from the centre, the greater the tilt, and it shows the direction directly.
- Benefit of the symbol: it conveys direction and magnitude together, without requiring any language skills.
- Limit of the symbol: the scale is compressed; the difference between 0,1° and 0,02° cannot be told apart on the screen.
- Benefit of the number: a tolerance comparison can only be made with a number.
So use the two together: look at the symbol for rough positioning and the decision to use blocks, and at the numerical degree for threshold decisions such as refrigerator tolerance. Also, if a physical bubble spirit level is stuck to the vehicle, its zero must coincide with the device's zero; if it does not, either the mounting plane or the device's tare reference is wrong.
