Remote Control Pairing
This is the registration procedure that makes the wireless remote control communicate only with its own receiver. During pairing a unique identity per device is shared; after that, commands from another remote control are not accepted. On the AXI HCT400 and HCT402 communication runs on the XRF encrypted protocol and pairing is one of the setup steps.
Without pairing, two systems in the same environment could trigger each other; considering two tractors working side by side in a field, the consequence of that is serious. The process is roughly as follows: the receiver is put into learning mode, the remote control sends its identity information, the receiver writes it to memory and confirms.
- Close range: pairing is done with the remote control and receiver side by side; in an attempt made from a distance there is a risk of learning the wrong device.
- Unique identity: because every device has its own key, a command from another remote control is invalid.
- When it is repeated: when the remote control or receiver is changed, or when the unit is reset.
The security pairing provides is different from signal loss protection: pairing covers a command coming from the wrong source, while timeout covers the command not arriving at all. On the HCT400 the timeout is declared as 250 ms. In setup, pairing is done first, then the movement test follows.
