Precision Mode
Precision mode is the operating mode that closes the remaining angular error in small steps once the coarse correction is finished. The jacks are driven in short pulses and after each step the system waits until the measurement settles. On the KTS200 the final stage of the automatic cycle comes down to the 0.025° target with this logic.
In the coarse stage the jack moves continuously and a large angular error is closed quickly. As the target is approached, however, that same continuous movement produces overshoot: the system passes zero, corrects the other way, passes again and oscillates. Precision mode prevents this oscillation by shortening the step size.
- After each correction step the sensor reading is allowed to settle; the suspension and the body spring for a few seconds.
- Because the step size is smaller, the final convergence is slower than the coarse stage; this is normal.
- On the KTS200, Precision Mode is defined to prioritise accuracy under conditions where there is movement inside the caravan; even so, continuous movement delays the settling of the measurement and lengthens the cycle.
Practical use: position the vehicle, start the automatic cycle and, if possible, do not walk about inside until the cycle finishes. On an installation where the equipment tolerance is tight (especially if there is an absorption refrigerator), wait for the precision mode to complete. If the ground is very soft the jack may sink over time and cause the angle to drift; in such a place it is better to repeat the precision mode after placing the base plates.
