Pre-Contractual Information Form
The information document that must be presented to the consumer before the order is completed, under the Distance Contracts Regulation. The essential characteristics of the product, the total price including taxes, the payment and delivery terms, the procedure for exercising the right of withdrawal and the routes for complaint applications are set out in this form.
The form ensures that the consumer knows what they are buying and on what terms before the contract is concluded. The Regulation lists the content of the form one by one and requires the consumer to confirm that they have obtained this information; that is why you see a separate confirmation box before the payment step.
- The essential characteristics of the product and the seller's identity and contact details.
- The total price including all taxes together with any shipping and additional costs.
- Information on payment, delivery and performance together with the delivery time the seller commits to.
- The period and procedure for exercising the right of withdrawal and the cases where the right does not exist.
If proper information was not provided about the right of withdrawal, the consumer is not bound by the withdrawal period; the burden of proving that the information obligation was fulfilled lies with the seller. In industrial control products, when reading the form compare the technical characteristic lines with the table on the product page, because values such as supply voltage and current that determine your choice are also declared in this form as part of the essential characteristics of the goods.
