Passive Stop

It is the stop that occurs on a wireless remote control as a result of the transmitter's broadcast being interrupted: the battery runs flat, the device is switched off, or the operator goes out of range. Because no command is being sent, the receiver outputs drop and the movement ends. No deliberate action by the operator is required; the stop arises from the absence of a signal.

In a passive stop, what decides to stop is not a button but the silence of the communication. If the receiver does not get a valid frame for a certain time it releases its outputs; the contactor coils drop out and the machine stops.

A passive stop is the natural result of a safe design but it is not an emergency stop device; a fixed and hard-wired emergency stop circuit in the sense of ISO 13850 is still expected. Because the stopping time is not stated in the product data of the AXI ST and SF sets, do not assume a numerical value; confirm it from the user manual and test it with no load during commissioning.
