Notified Body

It is an independent conformity assessment body authorised by a member state and notified to the European Commission. For radio equipment, this party takes part in the assessment when harmonised standards are not applied in full or are applied only in part.

The body's role is to examine the manufacturer's technical file and test results independently and to carry out additional tests where necessary. The certificate it issues as a result becomes one of the grounds for the declaration of conformity.

In practice, for an industrial radio remote control this distinction is understood by asking one question: does the device's declaration of conformity mention the name and number of a notified body? If it does not, this is not a deficiency; it only means that the route in which the harmonised standards are fully applied has been chosen. Request the document contents from the manufacturer and add them to your machine file.
