Non-Invasive Mounting
This is connecting the actuator from above with a cable, without dismantling the engine's original mechanical throttle lever and fuel system at all. The GS740 kit is installed with this approach: the mechanical throttle lever stays in place. That way, even if the electronics drop out, the engine's own mechanical control and governor keep working just as on day one.
The logic of the approach is redundancy and reversibility. Because the original mechanical path is left intact:
- If the kit is removed, the engine continues to run as it was.
- The engine's own mechanical governor is not disabled; the kit does not take its place.
- In terms of warranty or service, the fuel system has not been interfered with.
The point to watch during installation is that the actuator does not obstruct the range of movement of the original manual control. If the hand throttle lever or the pedal is still usable, the two controls have to be adjusted so they do not force each other; usually the cable connection is made so that throttle applied by hand works in the direction that slackens the cable.
This form of mounting also defines what the kit is: the GS740 and GS740-3P are an electronic throttle lever, not an electronic governor. If you want to hold the speed constant under load, that only comes into play with the GS740's optional active-feedback speed-holding module.
