Memory Reset
This is erasing the taught upper limit and making the system ready for calibration again. On the GS740-3P the power is cut, about 5 seconds are waited, the blue wire is connected to GND first and then power is applied; about 8 seconds after power-up the memory is erased and the actuator signals this with a movement.
The order of the steps is not accidental. Cutting the power and waiting a short time ensures the controller shuts down completely; connecting the blue wire to GND before applying power ensures that the erase request is read at the moment of power-up. If the order is broken, the system counts this as a normal calibration trigger and the memory is not erased.
Erasing is needed in the following cases:
- When the cable has slipped or the attachment point has changed.
- When the cable has been replaced with a new one.
- When the calibration has been lost, that is when part of the potentiometer becomes unresponsive or full throttle cannot be reached.
After the erase operation the system is in an untaught state. Instead of running it straight away, first re-establish the cable tension, then carry out the upper limit teaching step. A new teaching done without correcting the tension brings the same problem back in a short time.
This procedure is specific to the GS740-3P, and the blue wire is present only on this product.
