Low Water Consumption Cleaning
A cleaning approach that removes the dirt on the panel surface mainly by mechanical brushing and uses water only to bind the dust and let the brush slide. Because the optimised distributor feeds the water directly onto the brush band, it markedly reduces consumption compared with free-flowing washing.
In classic hose washing most of the water runs off the panel and contributes nothing to the cleaning. In a brush-based approach it is the mechanical action that removes the dirt; the water serves to separate abrasive dust particles from the surface and to lower the sliding friction of the brush. The amount required is therefore much lower.
Reducing water consumption has three practical benefits. First, at ground-mounted plants where the water source is limited, the amount of water hauled in by tanker drops. Second, since minerals in hard water leave limescale marks on the surface as they dry, using less water reduces the risk of marking. Third, the water load reaching the junction box and cable glands under the panel is reduced.
The ROBEG ELS-03 implements this approach with an optimised water distributor and is stated to operate with minimum water consumption. Together with grid-independent DC battery supply, this produces a way of working that reduces dependence on both water and power infrastructure in field conditions.
