Learn Mode
It is the temporary operating state in which the receiver becomes ready to accept a new transmitter identity. This mode is usually entered with a button on the receiver or a particular button combination, and it closes by itself after a short timeout. For AXI products the steps are given by the learning procedure in the user manual.
The logic of learn mode is authorisation: if the receiver accepted a new identity at all times, any transmitter on site could introduce itself. For this reason the mode requires physical access to the receiver and stays open only briefly.
The typical flow works like this:
- The receiver is powered up and put into learn mode; an indicator reports that the mode is active.
- The pairing command is given from the transmitter.
- The receiver writes the identity to its memory and closes the mode.
- Each channel is tested one by one with no load.
Points to watch: during learning, the machine's power circuit should be de-energised or the movement mechanically secured; an unexpected output may be triggered at the moment of pairing. Also, the learning operation means that anyone with physical access to the receiver can pair a new remote control; the panel or enclosure holding the receiver must be kept locked.
Do not try to apply the button combinations from memory; on some systems a wrong combination can alter the memory contents.
