IP67 Connectorised Harness
It is a ready-made cable set in which the connection points are made with connectors that are dust-tight and resistant to temporary immersion. According to IEC 60529 the second digit of IP67 means temporary immersion at 1 metre depth for 30 minutes. On the GS740-3P an IP67 connectorised harness 2 metres long per channel is supplied.
The code consists of two digits. The first digit, 6, is the top class against solid objects: dust-tight. The second digit, 7, defines the temporary immersion test for water. These two digits are separate tests and do not include one another.
There are two common misreadings. First, IP67 does not mean continuous immersion; continuous immersion falls under IPx8. Second, IP67 does not mean resistance to high-pressure water jets; pressure washing is expressed by a separate class (IPx9K). Holding the jet directly on the connectors while washing the machine is therefore risky.
There is one more distinction on the product side: on the GS740 the IP67 statement applies to the metal button, whereas on the GS740-3P it applies to the connectors and harness. The protection class of the servo motor housing is not stated in the product documentation; for that reason it would not be correct to call the whole kit IP67. Seating the connectors fully by turning them during installation is a precondition of the declared protection.
