Hitch Drift
This is the hitch slowly sinking while the tractor is parked or during transport. It is almost always hydraulic in origin: oil seeping to the tank from the cylinder seal, the control valve or the lift valve. An electronic control fault shows itself differently — the hitch does not lower by itself, it fails to respond to commands.
The practical way to tell them apart is to cut the power. Switch off the ignition and the retrofit kit's supply, leave the implement raised and wait 15–30 minutes. If the hitch still lowers, the problem is hydraulic; in a system where the electronics are off, it means the lever is not moving.
- Hydraulic origin: slow and continuous lowering, faster with hot oil, more pronounced when the oil level is low.
- Electronic origin: sudden movement, triggering unrelated to a command, or no response at all; it is not in the form of continuous seepage.
- Mechanical origin: if the cable tension is holding the lever partly pulled, the lever cannot return to neutral.
This last item matters when installing the LFT20 and LFT54: if the cable stays taut on the kit side, the tractor's lever does not seat fully in neutral and the hitch lowers over time. Adjust the cable tension so that there is slack while the lever is in its free position. Never work under the hitch without mechanical support.
