ETSI EN 300 220 (25 MHz - 1000 MHz SRD Standard)
A harmonised standard series prepared for short range devices operating between 25 MHz and 1000 MHz. It is used to meet the electromagnetic compatibility and efficient spectrum use requirements of the radio equipment directive; 433 and 868 MHz products are tested against this series.
The series consists of several parts. One part defines the technical characteristics and measurement methods, another gives the harmonised requirements under the relevant article of the directive. Tests are performed in a laboratory environment under defined conditions.
The main quantities measured:
- The power radiated from the antenna and its conformity with the band limits.
- Out-of-band and unwanted emissions, that is, energy leaking into adjacent bands.
- Sensitivity and selectivity on the receiver side, that is, the ability to pick out the correct frame while a nearby interference source is present.
- Frequency stability and the effect of temperature.
This standard addresses radio performance; machine safety, stop architecture and protection class are outside its scope. Seeing which part and which edition of this series is referenced in the declaration of conformity is the most direct way to understand how the radio side of the device was verified.
